Late Iron Age to Roman copper alloy Langton Down brooch, probably of Mackreth’s (2011) Type 2.b, dating to the period c. AD 25 – 60. The wings form a cylindrical hood housing the spring and axis bar. The wings exhibit a transverse seam and a central oval slot cut in the centre through which the pin projects. The pin terminates in an old break. The bow is divided from the spring case by a crescentic cross-moulding. The bow tapers from the head and terminates in an old break. It exhibits reeded longitudinal moulding. The lower, bow, foot and catchplate are missing.

See: Mackreth, D.F, 2011, Vol. I, p. 34 & Vol. II, p. 23, pl. 20, no. 11746.
