Late Iron Age to early Roman (late 1st century BC to AD late 1st century) cast copper alloy Nauheim Derivative, La Tene III brooch. The brooch is cast as one piece. Protruding from either side of the head there originally were wings, except one is now missing. The remaining wing is decorated with vertical ribbing. There are three coil of the spring behind this wing, otherwise the spring and pin are also missing. The chord travels above the wing and is held in place by a integral hook which is bent so it rests against the bow. The bow is oval in section and tapers to a blunt point. The lower terminal has an integral short catchplate, which is still complete.
The surface of the brooch has a mottled brown patina.
The brooch measures 36.01mm long, 13.4mm wide across the spring, and weighs 4.45g.
The brooch is a La Tene III type brooch which dates to the late Iron Age, late first century. Bayley and Butcher (2004, 145-7) illustrate a similar brooch, No. T9.
